Retina display Macs, iPads, and HiDPI: Doing the Math
A thorough analysis of the meaning of “Retina” and how many Macs are not far from being classified as such.

Baidu, currently China’s most popular search engine, is becoming a built-in search option in Safari. The popular video sharing services Tudou and Youku will be part of Apple’s “Share Sheets” to post videos to the web. Similarly QQ, 163 and 126, which are options in Mail, Contacts and Calendar; while Sina weibo, a Twitter-like service, will be integrated should a user want to do a bit of microblogging.
On its wireless network, iOS counts for 83% of mobile devices and Mac OS X counts for 52% of traditional devices.
These guys are crazy talented. I wonder what Facebook is going to put them up to.
There’s always been many apps with custom UIs for no (seemingly good) reason (including apps by the much-praised Panic and Iconfactory), so this is nothing new. Apple has always violated its own HIG with iLife, iWork, Pro apps, and iTunes. From Leopard’s hideous 3D dock to the bubble iTunes 10 icon, we can see a clear shift in Apple’s take on user interface design. In the end, as long as the custom UIs are built with taste and the user experience in mind, I am all for them.
Macs have the most beautiful inspiration down to the tiniest details.
The iPhone alone is worth more than all but 10 companies in the world (via Apple 2.0)
Maybe this marketing ploy can prevent some PC users from switching, but aside from the arguments about hardware and games, most of the other statements are pretty inaccurate. (Yes, I know it’s just marketing/pr.) Does anyone else find it “interesting” (hah.) that M$ is starting their PC vs. Mac campaign now that Apple has ended its Get a Mac campaign?
Fairly unimpressive. The interface is poorly designed and difficult to navigate. Also, the application isn’t native for Mac OS X—it’s AIR, so the responsiveness is pretty shitty as well.
There aren’t even any good features. I tried adding my financial accounting lecture slides, but the PDF reader is like some retarded version of Acrobat Reader. Highlighting and note adding can be done much more easily in Preview, which is much more responsive.
The only benefit I see is the whole eTextbook store deal. I would consider using this is the textbooks were much cheaper than the physical versions, but the copy/pasting limit is bullshit. Anyways we can always just take screenshots to get around it.
